Online Radio Show Scores Two Firsts for Healthcare Consumers

The Patient's Voice, a popular online radio show for healthcare consumers based in Loomis California, breaks new ground as the first health-related talk show to be listed on both the popular streaming-giant, Windows Media Radio Tuner , an online channel guide for those who prefer Windows Media Player for streaming media, as well as RadioRow.com , which offers a variety of player formats and programming choices.

Rosemary Roberts, a longtime patient advocate and the show's creator and host couldn't be more thrilled. “It's huge for us and an even bigger score for healthcare consumers looking for a place to voice their opinions and concerns” Roberts said, adding, “Consumers continue to turn to the net for up-to-date healthcare information and we offer a broad range of topics, both informative and entertaining, such as how to recognize fingernail polish removers that contain the date-rape drug known as GHB, questions surrounding the new Medicare drug card (upcoming), or the latest in fitness and nutrition from our ongoing, three-month series with Prevention Magazine, which currently features two local guests; Life-coach, Susan Schimmel Moody ( http://www.askthewisewoman.com ) and internationally recognized fitness trainer, Sally Edwards ( Heart Zones ).”

The first four days of participation on the Windows portal, which included the recent weekend, delivered high audience numbers, putting the show on track for an estimated 15,000 new listeners (or more) conservatively within the first thirty days on the tuner's website. On the heels of the show's successful debut at RadioRow.com earlier this month, the program's fast-growing audience base and consumer-driven platform offers an additional advertising gateway to a targeted audience of predominantly women, ages 25-55. “Online radio is fast becoming a standard amongst net-goers, as well as, a recognized market of value for advertisers. Our continued growth each month supports the fact that consumers like what we're offering,” says Roberts.

Recent surveys, such as those sponsored by RRadioNetwork suggest that the average listener (both male and female) is most likely to:

  • Engage in over three hours of online radio per day (both at home and at work)
  • Possess a bachelor's degree or higher
  • Reside in a household that earns over 50K annually.

“It's an attractive audience base,” she adds, “that searches out information by choice , and furthermore, understands the role advertising plays in providing that information.”

A Girl On Point© Production, The Patient's Voice can be heard on-demand in the Windows Media 9 Series format 24/7, with plans currently underway for a complementary live format. The current show can be found at http://www.thepatientsvoice.com/shows/currentshow.htm .
