Save the Children Organization Battles Personal Loss to Aid Victims of Tsunami in Indonesia

Girl On Point© (Loomis, Ca) -- the creative services firm and producer of The Patient's Voice (a popular online radio talk show for healthcare consumers) – has sponsored a special show for disaster relief following the holiday tsunami featuring guest, Diane Sherman of Save the Children , a seventy-year old charitable organization operating in the US and abroad.

According to Rosemary Roberts, producer of the show and NAWBO-Sacramento member, “Save the Children has been in operation for 30 years in many of the regions most severely affected ( Indonesia ). They've also suffered personal loss -- thirty-two staff and volunteer/community members attending educational or training seminars when the tsunami hit. A local Save the Children physician lost twenty-one extended family members as well – a sad, but all too familiar story – so it's personal, but they're moving on, doing what needs to be done.”

Sherman fought immense fatigue from her almost overwhelming duties since the natural disaster occurred to appear on the show. “ Save the Children is grateful for the online community's generous support and donations in our ongoing efforts to provide emergency life-sustaining items and services within the most devastated areas hit by the tsunami,” Sherman said, adding. “The International platform of The Patient's Voice allows for an international response to this crisis from individuals anxious to help.”

Roberts explained her reasons for highlighting the organization as simple, “While other organizations are doing great things in areas that are more easily reached (by comparison), Save the Children has established relationships within the more war-torn areas that many can't get through -- but they can. Coupled with a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator (a non-profit that ranks over 3500 international charities) they're also an organization that consumers can have confidence in -- their money WILL reach those most in need and Save the Children is there for the long haul.”
